Blue Velvet

I can not explain the excitement I had for this fabric, the best thing is finding such velvet in winter. My first instinct was to make a hoodie. Right!!

I wanted to make something like this. For some reason I really loved this trend from 2017/2018 Ariana Grande.

Always follow your instinct, goes after cutting, I got so excited and started draping on the dummy, because its a nice stretch in the fabric.

Here I am playing with the mannequin and slowly getting carried away.

Here I am playing with the fabric and slowly forgetting my inspiration.

I started gabling with the neckline, at this point i was already regretting my move of cutting the next line, and the height of the dress what too short.

I tried it on and I was very disappointed that it was too short and looked really cheap. Na d it even looked worse once it was off the body.

Now do you remember the lower piece that I cut off, I was so glad I had that fabric left over, and it was enough to make a nice peplum finish at the bottom and this would make it look more dressy and classy.

Glad to have this piece, I made gathers for the peplum and attached it to the dress.

Here I am wearing my blue velvet, styled and ready for a party. I must say the results made me happy, I almost thought it was a total disaster after cutting the neckline at first but i’m quite happy with the results.
