From Shawl to top

This was an interesting project. And as most times, I had no idea what I was going to make out of them.

So here we have a dress and a shawl. The shawl is made of wool and is printed with the jacquard weave pattern. It was a really old one that I found but, I just loved the colours and its thickness. The dress was made of a rib jersey that is stretch and thick.

The next step was to place these items on a mannequin and play around with them….that is the fun part for me.

I separated the bodice of the dress from the skirt, well, the fabric from the bottom of the dress I found interesting and I still have it for future.

Then I placed the knit jersey bodice on the mannequin.

I started to play around with the the shawl and how it could work with the top. I was really glad that the colours went well together.

That did not workout clearly!! I had stick to the original plan.

I got the idea, so I went ahead with this style.

I adjoined the two pieces at the front, however when I tried it on i realised it needed armholes for flexibility.

So I cut in the armhole.

And that was it, here is the finished garment. Now there was leftover fabric that I made into a shawl.

Final results with styling.
